Samantha Moore’s dream of working for the American Civil Liberties Union just got a little closer to reality.

Moore, a Criminal Justice and Political Science- Legal Studies major from Paris Ill., has received a full scholarship to attend University of Dayton School of Law.

The University of Dayton is a private school in Dayton, Ohio.  After applying to other universities, Moore chose Dayton’s School of Law because they offer her two main areas of concentration, criminal law and human rights.

Moore, who graduates in May, is involved in many organizations on campus and credits her involvement for challenging her to become a better leader and person. She joined the Statesman last semester as an opinions columnist but was soon promoted to the editor of the opinions column.

She credits her work with the Statesman for helping her improve her reading and writing skills saying, “Law school is mostly reading and writing, so I feel that the Statesman's has allowed me to strengthen my skills.”

When asked how it felt be the recipient of this scholarship Moore said, “It feels like a weight off of my shoulders! Accumulating debt while in law school was one of my greatest concerns, so it is a sigh of relief knowing I won't be drowning in debt when I graduate. It also feels like my hard work has paid off; one of the best feelings ever!”

Moore feels her undergraduate experiences have prepared her for this next chapter and she is eager to work advocating for equality and justice for everyone.
