Fall is officially here, and with that comes excitement from the students of Indiana State University about their favorite upcoming seasonal events. Whether it be the Homecoming football game, Hispanic Heritage Month, or going to pumpkin patches, people all across campus can’t wait to take part in their most loved autumn activities.

“This homecoming week is special for me because it’s my last year at ISU. I can’t believe how fast everything has gone and that this is the last homecoming football game I’ll get to attend as a student,” said Ann Clifton, a senior at Indiana State.

The homecoming football game will take place Oct. 12 against Western Illinois at 1 p.m. in Memorial Stadium. Tickets can be purchased online at TicketMaster.

This week ISU is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month by having a Food Fiesta with authentic cuisine from Panama. While the attendees eat, the host of the event will go over the context and connections between the food and the culture of Panama. This event is taking place at the Charles E. Brown African American Cultural Center Thursday, Oct. 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“I’m looking forward to the Hispanic Heritage Month events! They’re always interactive and fun,” said Lauren Rader, a sophomore at Indiana State.

Though many students will attend university events this fall, some will be choosing to take part in more traditional autumn activities.

“Every fall I get so excited to go to the pumpkin patch with my friends. It’s become something that we all look forward to all year long. It’s what makes fall feel like fall,” said Marissa Shmidt, a junior at Indiana State.

In the surrounding communities, from Oct. 11-20, the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival will showcase the historic covered bridges and local arts and goods. There are 31 bridges across Indiana and the festivals are located in Rockville, Bridgeton, Mansfield, Montezuma, Bloomingdale, Bellmore, Mecca, Rosedale and Tangier.
