Indiana State offers a platform for networking opportunities among ISU alumni and students.

Through a forum called Ten Thousand Coffees, students have the opportunity to strengthen their networking and communication skills, gain access to better knowledge about careers within their degree, seek advice from professionals on any topic, and much more.

The Career Center emphasizes the need for such skills and hope they will benefit students on their hunt for careers.

Kaleigh All, employer relations coordinator, discusses the details and benefits from the program. She says, “[Students] may make a lifelong connection with a mentor who will be able to help them professionally throughout their career.”

Students and mentors are paired together depending on the topics they’ve chosen through Ten Thousand Coffees. Pairs have total control over how often they meet. Whether it be in person or virtually, conversation themes and ice breakers help make the conversation easier.

Through this program, ISU Alums who have had professional and life experiences offer to share their testimonies to students who seek advice or for other opportunities.

“The mentors in the platform are all ISU alumni and truly want to give back to our students and help them with their professional development,” says All.

This mentoring program is available to students and alumni solely on a voluntary basis. By registering, members are consenting to providing their names and other identifying information which is stored securely with Ten Thousand Coffees in the United States.

“The mentees and mentors have had a lot of positive things to say about their experiences so far. My goal is to grow the number of participants in the platform,” All concludes.
