Official graduation plans are subject to change due to COVID-19.
Hundreds of Indiana State University students will be graduating at the end of this semester. Indiana State University has announced the schedule for Winter Commencement ceremonies, which will be held in person. The ceremonies will be split up according to what college the student is in, and will take place Dec. 11 and 12 at the Hulman Center. All students will be limited to four ticketed guests and all guests will be required to have pre-issued tickets in order to attend the student’s ceremony. The schedule for Winter Commencement is as follows:
Graduate Ceremony – Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 at 6:00 P.M.
Undergraduate Bayh College of Education and College of Health and Human Services – Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020 at 10:00 A.M.
Undergraduate Scott College of Business and the College of Technology – Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.
Undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences – Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020 at 6:00 P.M.
The ceremonies will have no procession and all speeches will be pre-recorded and played at the commencement ceremonies. Undergraduates must apply for graduation by the deadline, which is Oct. 15. Indiana State University officials have stated that there will be no exceptions due to the extensive planning required for the commencement ceremonies.
Noah Hogg, a senior double majoring in Aviation Management and Unmanned Systems, will be graduating at the end of the upcoming spring semester. “I would prefer this [type of] ceremony over having a completely virtual one,” he said. “I think that this is a great idea for the university and all of the graduating seniors.”
Of course, graduating college is no easy task, and as a senior himself, Hogg is well-aware of this. “Overall, I think that the plan Indiana State University has put into motion for graduation is great. I really hope that my spring commencement is allowed some relaxed restrictions, based on where we are at in our battle with COVID-19. I want nothing more than to graduate in front of my friends and family that have supported me through my education,” he said.
Participation in the 2020 winter commencement ceremonies is restricted to students who are eligible to graduate in December 2020, students who officially graduated in summer 2020, and students who officially graduated in spring 2020 that indicated via the graduation survey that they intend on walking at the December commencement ceremony.
Tickets will be made available starting Nov. 2 at 7:00 A.M.
Official graduation plans are subject to change in compliance with state and federal restrictions related to COVID-19.
