The ISU swim and dive team are set to open their season on Friday with an Intra-squad meet. The team will be split into two teams: Blue and White. The two teams have been posting on social media all semester long competing in different games and challenges.
This past week, as the days countdown to meet day, both Blue and White have been posting advertisements of the meet. Such as the one pictured above this story, both White and Blue are stacked with talent.
Some of the swimmers that are on Blue are Emily Webb, Andrea Putrimas and Kaimi Matsumoto. The White team is also stacked as they have swimmers such as Jordan Gruce, Rhiannon Wozny, Marni Gray and Jayln Talbot. Both teams will be putting up close races and nail biter finishes.
Marni gray is coming into her junior year off a great season, as she was conference champion for 200 Fly and runner up in the 100 Fly. Gray is only the second conference champion in the program’s history.
For the diving side some divers on Blue team Keara Shelton & Bailey Betzer. Some divers on White team are Sierra Bowman and Sarah Montgomery. When it comes to diving you have got to give it to the White team, they have some stacked divers on their end. Shelton is a diver to watch closely as she is coming into her final season with the diving team. As she will be looked at as the leader of the diving team and looking to bring home some hardware in diving later this season at the Missouri Valley Conference in February.
The meet will open with the 1000 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Fly and 50 Free. Then then team will take a 15-minute break to catch their energy back and get ready for the second group of events. The second ground will be 100 Free, 200 Back, 200 Breast, 500 Free, and 100 Fly. Then there will be another 15-minute break. After the final break the swimmers will conclude with the 200 IM and 400 Free Relay. The divers will also compete doing the 3M dive and 1M dive during the meet.
The Swim & Dive intra-squad meet is going to be at the Vigo County Aquatic Center Friday at 6pm.
