The Indiana State Sycamores will try to bounce back from their loss to the Missouri State Bears when they take on the Drake Bulldogs on Wednesday in Des Moines. The Sycamores are looking to tie the season series against The Bulldogs after losing the first game 62 to 68 at home back on February 2nd. Bronson Kessinger and Tyreke Key both had great games in their first meeting against The Bulldogs with Kessinger scoring 16 points and Key scoring 23 points.
The Sycamores got off to a great start in that game and went into the locker room at halftime with a 34 to 31 lead. There was a momentum shift towards the end of that first half though and the Sycamores were never able to take the momentum back. Looking at the Drake side, they are coming off a 61 to 67 loss to the Illinois State Redbirds after going on a four-game winning streak.
The Drake Bulldogs are currently 21-8 on the season and are first in the Missouri Valley Conference. Consistency has plagued this Sycamores team since they started conference play. We have seen them compete with good teams, but we’ve also seen them struggle against mediocre teams. Being just a couple weeks away from the MVC Tournament, they will be looking to pick up as much confidence as possible in these next few games. Just that little bit of confidence may be the factor that determines their success in conference play.
