The Indiana State football team will play their first home game Saturday. Now 0-1 ISU will take on the Dayton Flyers in hopes to bring their record back to even. The Sycamores started the season not how they wanted to last weekend. After suffering a 24-17 loss to Kansas University, the Sycamores are determined and ready to get the first win of the season. It looked as if ISU would start the season 1-0 after taking a 17-16 lead via a defensive strip-sack and recovery in the end zone with just under four and a half minutes left in regulation. Kansas would eventually go down and score the go-ahead TD with just over two minutes left. Indian State had twenty-two fewer passing yards but outrushed the FBS School by over forty yards. Even though this game resulted in a loss, Coach Mallory and the Sycamores believed they gave a very good performance and learned what to improve on going into this week to face the Flyers.

Dayton is one of the three teams left in the Pioneer League Conference that has yet to play this year. After a 6-5 year, the team wants to show that they are ready to play with the higher-ranked teams and compete at the top of the FCS ranks. With ISU going up one spot in the FCS Coaches Poll from 16 to 15, this game will prove who is ready for the 2019 season.

ISU is a 19.5 point favorite on the game. It seems like the game should be very one-sided. But, this is college football and anything can happen at any time. ISU could easily cover the spread and have this game over in three quarters. Having one game already under their belts, the Sycamores will show up at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, hoping to bring home a victory against the Flyers of Dayton University.
